Das Buch ist wunderschön. Endlich hab ich es. Und ich freu mich voll. Die Ränder der Seiten sind Gold und lässt das Buch edel erscheinen. Außerdem sind Extras drinnen. Zu einem Bilder von den Haupt Charakteren (natürlich des ersten Buches, schön illustriert und in schönen Farben wie gewohnt) und geheim Akten vom Rat sind in den letzten Seiten angehängt. Mit interessanten Details und auch Bemerkungen des „Verfassers“ die eines Ratsmitglieds würdig sind. :PDas Buch ist gebunden und sieht aus wie abgebildet. In der Innenseite des Covers sind farbige Bilder von clary (vorne) und jace (hinten). Das Buch ist natürlich auf englisch geschrieben. Aber das stört mich keineswegs. Es ist perfekt. (:Zudem gibt es bei jedem Kapitel kleine schwarz weiß Illustrationen und Zitate die der Autorin gefallen. Zum Beispiel von Shakespeare. Auch ein Stadtplan von New York und wo die einzelnen Plätze, wie z.B. Wo das Institut steht, wurde in den ersten Seiten eingesetzt. Ich bin begeistert und kann das Buch für einen Sammler nur empfehlen. Wer nur die Geschichte lesen möchte kann aber auch zu der günstigeren Version greifen. Die Geschichte ist einfach super mit oder ohne specials! <3

Ich hab die Reihe auf Deutsch und als HC in meinen Regal zu stehen und konnte einfach nicht anders und musste die 10th Anniversary Edition haben.Das Cover ist schon ein Blickfang. Das Nachtblau und der silberfarbene Druck ist wunderschön. Die Seiten außen sind mit einer Schicht Gold überzogen und werten das Buch um einiges auf.Ganz besonders war ich auf die Seiten im Inneren gespannt und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht.Farbige Illustrationen der Hauptcharaktere, einfach nur WOW. Warum gibt es sowas für Deutsche Bücher eigentlich nicht? Oder eher sehr wenige.Die neue Harry Potter Schmuckauflage ist da schon eine Seltenheit am Deutschen Markt.Ich hänge euch im Anhang ein paar Fotos davon an.Jetzt natürlich zur Geschichte. Hier natürlich auf Englisch der Original Sprache.Der Inhalt bleibt von dem her ja der gleiche.Wer also die Deutsche Reihe der Shadowhunters kennt, wird im Englischen nochmals so begeistert sein. Natürlich sollte man hier der englischen Sprache bemächtigt sein. Aber auch mit etwas Übung, lassen sich kommende Bücher in der Sprache immer besser und flüssiger lesen. Ihr werdet nicht enttäuscht sein, den oftmals ist die Geschichte sehr tiefgründiger als in der Übersetzung.Ich gebe 5 Sterne für diese tolle Schmuckausgabe des ersten Bandes.

After having very much enjoyed watching the City of Bones movie as well as the Shadowhunters TV series I was unfortunately a little disappointed by the novel. The writing is okay, Clare uses easy-to-read, easy-to-follow language which I appreciate, although I sometimes noticed the lack of voice and inventiveness which would have made the novel so much richer.I also felt like the book was too long and the story could have been told in maybe two thirds of the pages. The beginning is quite good and so is the ending but like many other novels City of Bones suffers from saggy middle syndrome. Maybe it's because I had already seen two filmed versions of the material but I really felt like the middle of the book dragged on for way too long.The characters in City of Bones are quite young too. They are all 15 or 16 whereas in the TV show they are 18-23 years old (and some characters in the TV show, like Alec for example, could easily be in their mid- to late-twenties). I know this is very personal and younger readers might not have a problem with it but I found it difficult to relate to a 15 year old protagonist. I'm in my 30s and naturally find it easier to connect with characters that are past the "asking adults for permission" stage in life. The themes in City of Bones are fairly mature, too, and making Clary 18 like in the TV show would have made it easier for older readers to relate. In general character development was okay though and I do love Jace, his sense of humour is the absolute highlight of the book.Overall it's an easy to read book but it would have benefited from trimming down the pages and slightly older characters. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the books in this series.

Zum Inhalt brauche ich nichts zu sagen, denn ich denke sein Erfolg spricht für sich.Blöd nur das das Buch am zweiten Tag anfing auseinander zu fallen. Ich musste einige Seiten wieder einkleben. Auch hatte ich das Gefühl ein ziemlich altes Buch bekommen zu haben, weil es unheimlich gestunken hat (und es ehrlich gesagt immer noch tut)Naja, Pech gehabt. Gelesen habe ich es trotzdem

Nach vielen Empfehlungen von Freunden habe ich mir endlich dieses Buch bestellt, in der Originalsprache, da ich finde, dass der Schreibstil dann oft besser rüberkommt.Da ich schon länger nichts mehr auf Englisch gelesen habe, war es die ersten Seiten ein bisschen holperig. Die Geschichte hat mich dann aber so in ihren Bann gezogen, dass anfängliche Schwierigkeiten schnell vergessen waren.Ich fand die Charaktere sehr gut, ihre Handlungen waren nachvollziehbar. Damit möchte ich nicht sagen, dass sie typisch oder klischeehaft waren, sondern eher, dass man sich gut in ihre Lage versetzen konnte, was natürlich auch für den Schreibstil spricht. Ich werde mir auf jeden Fall die anderen Bücher der Reihe zulegen!Noch etwas zum Cover: Auf dem Buchrücken sind die Figuren abgebildet, die auch bei der Sammeledition abgebildet sind.
